Jury 2025
We present the jury of the 3rd edition of the Tramway Film Festival:
Zuzanna Solakiewicz – Chairwoman
Zuzanna Solakiewicz is an award-winning screenwriter and director known for her visually striking and thought-provoking films. She studied humanities at the University of Warsaw and film directing at the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem. She has participated in prestigious industry programs such as the Berlinale Talent Campus and EAVE.
Her debut film, “15 Corners of the world”, won the Critics’ Week Award at the Locarno Film Festival and was presented at major international festivals, as well as distributed in cinemas, on VOD platforms, and on Polish TV. She is also the author of the feature-length and medium-length documentary films “The soil” and “Jorcait”.
Her latest film, “The Guest,” co-directed with Zvika Gregory Portnoy, premiered in the IDFA 2024 Main Competition, where it won the award for best cinematography. It is currently being presented in competition and official selections at leading international documentary festivals.
Alberto Gracia
Considered part of Novo Cinema Galego (New Galician Cinema), he has made two short films and three feature films.
In 2013, he premiered his first feature film, “The Fifth Gospel of Kaspar Hauser”, at the IFFRotterdam, winning the FIPRESCI Prize.
In 2018, he presented his second feature film at IFFRotterdam, entitled “Wandering star”, winning the Nuevas Olas Award for Best Spanish Film at the Seville European Film Festival.
In 2024, his third feature film, “The rim”, was premiered again at IFFRotterdam, this time in the festival’s Main Competition (Tiger Competition). The film has been selected for many festivals, including Jeonju, New Directors-New Films in New York, Viennale, Seminci, Bafici.
As teacher, he has taught at schools, universities, art centers, and other institutions.
He published an essay in 2010 called “Microfugas. Teoría y juego de la profanación”, and is preparing new publications.
As actor, he is “Iago” in Carla Simon’s “Romería”.
María Ruiz-Falcó
Graduate in Journalism from the University of Santiago de Compostela and in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Vigo.
During her studies, she worked and volunteered in the production of various film festivals: Curtocircuito, Novos Cinemas, Play-Doc and FICBUEU.
She has worked on various projects in direction and production, including: “Prevenidos, webseries” (assistant director); “Mírame”, music video (production manager); “Son”, short film (production director); “Lúa Morna”, short film (assistant director); “Boca de asno”, short film (production director).
In 2018, she joined the permanent team of the FICBUEU association, currently performing tasks as production manager, programming, and co-direction within the event organization, and participating as a teacher in the various activities that the festival develops throughout the year. Since 2022, she has co-directed the festival together with her colleague Manuel Pena.
