Cinephile – Pere Portabella
The second part of this year’s non-competitive Cinephile section is ready.
Reclaiming the gaze – the cinema of Pere Portabella
We will present five films by the Catalan director Pere Portabella—one of the most original figures in European auteur, experimental, and political cinema.
These screenings are part of the international “Acció Portabella” initiative, which commemorates the centenary of the filmmaker’s birth (occurring in February 2027). It is worth noting that the Tramway Film Festival is, to date, the only Polish participant in this initiative, joining such renowned cultural institutions and film festivals as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam, the Arsenal Filminstitut in Berlin, and the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
This is an opportunity to explore the work of an artist who consistently pushed the boundaries of cinematic language, blending formal experimentation with political reflection and a critical perspective on reality.
The screenings are presented in partnership with the Embassy of Spain in Poland and Films 59.
In the presence of Adrián Onco (Films 59, Spain).
